Kasuti Embroidery
Hands-on Kasuti Embroidery Workshop

Duration: 3 hours

About Kasuti Embroidery:
Kasuti is an intricate, delicate form of hand embroidery from the state of Karnataka. Traditionally done by women of Karnataka, Kasuti-embroidered garments were worn by royalty and common folk alike. They were passed down to children, especially as part of a daughter's wedding trousseau. High quality Kasuti hand-embroidery is becoming increasingly difficult to find, because there are very few practitioners.

About the workshop:
In this workshop you can learn about the rich heritage of Kasuti art, and see examples of high-quality embroidery. Under the guidance of a trained practitioner, you can learn 4 types of Kasuti stitches, and create a small embroidered bookmark to take home as a memento. It is a focused, creative and meditative process. No prior knowledge of embroidery is needed.
